Rock Crystal Blue

The effect of the Rock Crystal is a unique luster and sparkle which is achieved through light interference and reflection from these natural mica flakes coated with thin layers of titanium dioxide and/or iron oxide to give a high-clarity, glass-like appearance. The “rock crystal” in the product name refers to the crystalline, shimmering visual effect they produce, not that the pigment is made of actual rock crystal (quartz). The characteristics and appearance of these pigments start as a white powder in mass but display iridescent or the specific chosen color (ie Red, Blue or Violet) when applied over dark or black backgrounds, due to light interference. They are non-toxic, chemically inert, and exhibit excellent weather and high-temperature resistance.
